Child Slavery in the Chocolate Industry
Did you know that most of the chocolate we consume comes from the cocoa fields of Ghana and Cote D'Ivoire, Africa that use child labor? Children who working in the cocoa fields are subject to harsh labor like carrying heavy bags of cocoa beans, using sharp tools like knives and machetes to cut down cocoa pods, or even using hazardous pesticides. That's an extreme magnitude of unfair work on a child for your favorite chocolate bar!
The next time you are craving chocolate, remember it could very well contain chocolate from a farm that uses child labor. Rather, consider purchasing Fair Trade or ethically sourced chocolate. Get children out of the cocoa fields and into the classrooms. Also, consider donating what you would spend on a chocolate bar to Zoe's Bakery of Hope. Donations of any amount are appreciated--no gift is too small! Our mission is to help children who are victims of child slavery and human trafficking. 100% of donations received go to support this cause. We believe all children deserve an education as well as a safe, nurturing environment to thrive, grow, and fulfill their God given purpose and destiny.
