Trust in the LORD!
Sermon by Rev. Harrod Emmanuel Clay, Jr., Pastor
Scripture Reference
"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not on thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."--Proverbs 3:5-6
The Cycle of Living for Kingdom Citizens:
Know-----> Trust----- >Obey (This is what determines our success in any area of our lives.)
For too long we have been supported by our own understanding (intelligence/insight). The problem with this is, our understanding is limited and finite. Make the switch on what we have been leaning on! We can trust God!
This simplistic principle is challenging because it requires letting go of what we have been leaning on--ourselves. God's word tell us in Proverbs 3:5-6 to acknowledge our ways--habits, manner of living, practices--to him. Take all of your ways and habits and introduce them to God. For example, if your way is lying, introduce your habit of lying to God. "God, I have a habit/way of lying." If we introduce God to us and how we process problems, he will in exchange direct our paths. No matter what your "way" is--cursing, lying, blame-shifting, a corrupt thought life, being grudge-prone, worry-prone, anxiety-prone, retreating, pouting, living in silence--introduce it to God. Scripture tells us that those who worship God must worship him in Spirit and in truth. Be honest with God (John 4:23-24).
As we honestly acknowledge our ways before God, he will direct (straighten out the crookedness) so that we can prosper. God cannot straighten out what is crooked if we do not give him access. When God straightens out what is crooked, we begin to prosper--to make progress and to advance--in every area of our lives.
