--Hebrews 11:6(NKJV)
Have you ever gotten lost while driving? It's the worst feeling, right? A few years ago, my daughters and I took a road trip. All was well. We were laughing, talking, singing...that is until I realized I missed our exit. The road that we were supposed to be on was now an overpass I was looking up at. "How do I get up there?", was the first question that came to my mind as a little panic started to settle in. The lightheartedness, whimsical feel of our trip was now replaced with a feverish attempt to get back on the right road.
Can you relate? I bet you can! Can you relate to the sense of relief and euphoria that comes when the lost thing is found or the lost driver is now back on track? I bet you can! Fortunately, now there is GPS, so getting re-routed is typically fast and easy. But, (dare I age myself) before there was GPS we relied on road maps, a gas station attendant, or perhaps a kind passerby we could ask for directions. It required work, time, energy, and effort. The road map could not do the work for us. The gas station attendant could not get in the car and travel with us. And, after traveling so far, we certainly were not going to give up or stop until we arrived out our destination. We had a resolve to continue on in our journey, albeit tired, frustrated, and aggravated. So, the arrival was met with relief and satisfaction.
Do you remember the movie with Clark Griswold? He was determined to take his family on a road trip to Wally-World. The trip was riddled with all kinds of mishaps, but the euphoria the family felt as the drove in to the amusement park parking lot!
It is with that level of intensity that we are to pursue God. How do we pursue him? We pursue him in prayer, praise, and worship with same energy and diligence that we would use when we are lost on the road or looking for something. It is a relentless pursuit that emphasizes the sentiment that "I will not stop my pursuit of you until the realization of you is manifested in my life". When we seek God on that level, he promises to reward that kind of intensity. What is the reward? Everything that relationship with him brings--peace, hope, grace, strength, patience, satisfaction, wholeness, wellness, etc. There is no limit to the reward of diligently seeking God because he is vast and eternal. We can never exhaust the limits of blessings because they are infinite.
If there is an area in your life that seems chaotic, stagnant, dormant, or going from bad to worse--may I encourage you to diligently seek God? He will reward you. You will find answers. You will be encouraged. Your hope will be restored as faith hits your heart.
