The Wound Healer

"He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds."
--Psalm 147:3(KJV)
Have you ever been hurt by someone and looked to them to "undo" the heart that he/she may have caused?  Did you employ techniques (sulking, crying, the silent treatment, avoidance, ignoring, withholding, etc.) that you hoped would display that you were hurt and wanted that person to know it?  Perhaps you resorted to more overt techniques like yelling, being vindictive, bullying, intimidation, or picking fights and causing arguments?  If so, may I ask you, how have these tactics been working for you?   Not so well?  Well, there's good reason for that.  Interested?

Broken hearts and soul wounds are real.  We cannot ignore them or minimize them if we want to live the abundant life that God has offered each of us.  So, grappling with the truth of our hurt and doing the hard work to be well in our souls and to enjoy healthy, mutually satisfying relationships is required.  However, when we place the onus on another person to heal our wounds we are setting ourselves up for repeated and cyclical disappointment.  Not to mention the unrealistic demands and impossible weight we put on another person. The truth is, it is not the responsibility of another human being to heal the wounds of our soul.  Period.  The healing of our soul wounds and broken hearts is divine.  God alone is The Healer.  Further, as our Creator, he knows each of us intimately.  He knows just what we need so that we may experience health, wellness, and wholeness on a soul level.

If this is resonating with you, may I encourage you to bring the wounds of your soul to the Father.  Give him the broken pieces of your heart.  He has good things for you.  He wants you to live a life of joy, peace, and satisfaction.  He promises to heal the broken in heart and bandage every wound of the soul.  Trust in the truth of his word.

A Life that Pleases the Lord

"When people's lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them."
--Proverbs 16:7(NLT)

It may be easy to judge, form opinions, or analyze the words and behaviors of others.  There are countless forms of media in which analyzing and judging is the meat of their content.  Our world seems to revolve around  assessing and judging others, but how willing are we to be brave enough to take a introspective step back, and assess ourselves?  Questions like, How well am I relating to and loving my spouse?  How well am I parenting my children?  Is my speech encouraging or demeaning?  Are my conversations wholesome or laden with gossip and slander? What about my thoughts--are they optimistic and sound, or negative and pessimistic?  Am I walking in faith or doubt and despair?  How about my behaviors; are they healthy?  Or, am I struggling with habits, addictions, or perversions of some sort?  These critical, self-evaluative questions are prudent to ask--but they are rooted in a more critical question, am I living a life that pleases God?  It's very sobering to grapple with the realities and challenges of everyday life up against the scriptures. According to Proverbs 16:7, God will even make our enemies to be at peace with us.  Oh, the dividends and blessings that come by living a life that pleases God!

Our highest priority in life, as ambassadors of Christ (2 Corinthians 5:20), is to ensure that we are living lives that please the Father.  And the good news is, if upon honest introspection, we find that our speech, behavior, attitudes, mindsets, etc. are not pleasing--we can go to the Father with repentant hearts because He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love (Psalm 145:8).

Say the Name

"Jesus is the only one who can save people. His name is the only power in the world that has been given to save anyone. We must be saved through him!”
--
Acts 4:12 (ERV)

It may seem as though saying the name of Jesus has become taboo, politically incorrect, or offensive.  Yet, believers know and understand the liberty that comes when the name of Jesus is proclaimed.  Acts 4:12 tells us that the name of Jesus is the only name under heaven whereby we can be "saved"
(G4982 sozo: to be whole, sound, kept safe, delivered, protected, rescued from danger or destruction).*

There is power and authority that is released when call on His name.  It's no wonder that the adversary of our souls, Satan, would go to such extremes to attempt to stifle the utterance of the name of Jesus.  He (Satan) knows that when the name of Jesus is called--he is put on the run!

If you are confronting something today, I have good news for you!  The name of Jesus is greater than anything you may be confronting.  Dare to call on His name.  His name is greater than anxiety, depression, worry, fear, offensives, unforgiveness, trauma, PTSD, a broken heart, emotional wounds, habits, vices, maladaptive coping skills, rage, lying, manipulation, deception, promiscuity, lust, etc.  His name is above all names.  No one and no thing is equivocable.  He is in a class all by Himself.

Scriptures for Prayer and Meditation:
"Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble."--James 2:19

"And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name."--Luke 10:17

"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."--Philippians 2:9-11

Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, we thank you that you have engrafted us into your kingdom.  You have given us the privilege to call upon the name of Jesus.  We thank you for the power of His name, the name that causes demons to tremble!  We receive the peace, the healing, the deliverance, the joy, the protection, the wellness, the love, the care, the compassion, the acceptance, the redemption, the restoration, and the salvation that comes when we call upon the name of Jesus! Jesus! Amen.

God of the "Impossibles"

"Praise the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does such wonderful things."
--
Psalm 72:18(NLT)

Are you facing a challenge, obstacle, hardship, or difficulty?  Do you feel that you are confronting an impossible circumstance?  Is hopelessness or discouragement seeping into your heart?  If you answered, "YES!!!", to any of these questions--I have good news for you today!

We serve a God who specializes in the IMPOSSIBLES of life.

In Jeremiah 32:27, God indentifies himself and poses a question that speaks to his majesty, sovereignty, and ability by stating, "I am the LORD, the God of all the peoples of the world. Is anything too hard for me?".  We serve a God who specializes in hard things.  Psalm 72:18 tells us that God only does "wonderful things" (Strong's Exhaustive Concordance H6381/pala':  difficult to do, beyond one's power, extraordinary).  When things seem impossible or too hard for us, that is prime-time for God!  All we have to do is praise him through the difficulty.

If this resonates with you, may I encourage you to trust the God of the impossibles?  Your difficulty is his specialty!

We'd love to agree with you in prayer regarding your "Possible-Impossibles".  Submit your prayer requests below!
