"To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”--Isaiah 61:3(NKJV)
The Bible says that praising God is good, pleasant, and beautiful. It is also a weapon against the spirit of heaviness--depression, worry, anxiety, fear--those feelings that can blanket our souls and leave us feeling heavy, burdened, and downcast.
When we worship and praise God, anything that is not like Him must go. The spirit of depression, anxiety, worry, etc.--those spirits that come from the enemy, Satan, go because Satan hates praise! He literally runs in the other direction.
Remember Saul, in I Samuel 16? He was plagued by an evil spirit. The only thing that brought comfort or relief was David's harp playing. The sound of worship music changed the atmosphere and brought wellness to Saul's soul.
If you are feeling downcast, burdened, depressed, or worried begin to praise God. You will be amazed at how much better you will begin to feel as you invite God's presence and change the atmosphere.
