"Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you your heart's desires."--Psalm 37:4(NLT)
The word of God tells us that when we take delight ("to be happy about" or "to make merry" in the Hebrew context) in the LORD, he promises to give us our heart's requests or petitions. Only he can satisfy the longings of the human heart.
Most of us desire things that bring pleasure, beauty, or joy in life. We long for things that make us happy or make us feel good, even if it is temporary and requires spending time, money, energy, and great effort.
Psalm 37:4 is good news for us because we can see that when our desires are met by our Creator, it is good and perfect (James 1:17). God does not give bad gifts and he does not tease. His word is eternal, true, and forever settled in heaven. When we delight in him, we can be assured that when he gives us the requests of our hearts it is not temporary and it comes filled with his love, joy, and peace.
