Remember Moses, God's prophet in Exodus 4? When God revealed to him that he had been appointed as leader and deliverer for the Israelites, he had a litany of excuses to disqualify himself.
"But Moses pleaded with the LORD, ' O Lord, I am not very good with words. I never have been, and I am not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied and my words get tangled'."--Exodus 4:10(NLT)
Moses' words angered God. Our excuses anger God because in making them, we convey a message of doubt and uncertainty that we are not convinced that the Almighty God can do what he said or that he has empowered to complete the task we have been given.
How many times have we disqualified ourselves by making excuses have we conjured up out of feelings of fear and insecurity and inferiority? "I'm too old...I don't have a degree...I did not finish high school...I come from a dysfunctional family...I have a felony record...No one will ever listen to make or take me seriously..."
How many opportunities have we missed or how much time have we wasted because of excuses and procrastination? If this sounds even remotely familiar to you, you are not by yourself. Make today your day to be free from excuses so that you can move towards your destiny.
Prayer
Father, in Jesus' name, I repent of making excuses. Forgive me. Thank you for removing procrastination, excuses, and fear from my life. I pray that you fill me with your strength, grace, faith, and courage to move into my destiny. Amen
