Life is lived based on the decisions we make. Moment by moment, we are making choices that impact not just our day, but our future. Many of the decisions we make do not only impact us, but those around us as well. Future generations may be impacted by a decision that we make today.
The greatest decision we can ever make in life is to choose the Lord Jesus Christ. When we make a decision to follow Him and bear His name in our lives, not only do we receive the blessing of eternal life, but we receive blessings to walk through life. Choosing God activates his power, presence, and glory in our lives. There are inherent blessings, provision, favor, and protection that we receive as children of God.
Consider Ruth, the Moabitess. After her husband, father-in-law, and brother-in-law passed away, her mother-in-law, Naomi, was broken with grief and bitterness. She pleaded with Ruth to go back to her family and her idolatrous nation of Moab. Ruth refused to leave Naomi, but rather made a vow to stay with her. That vow was embedded with a decision to proclaim God.
"But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.--Ruth 1:16(NLT)
When Ruth made this decision, she activated the blessings, provision, power, presence, favor, and protection of God in her life. We see this clearly in Ruth 2 as she gleans in the field of the man who would become her future husband--Boaz. I'm sure that when Ruth made a decision to stay with Naomi in Ruth 1:15-18, she could have never dreamed of the open heaven that she was now walking under.
Have you made a decision to serve God and pursue a relationship with him? It is the best decision you could ever make.
