--John 14:16-18 (AMP)
As Christian believers we have the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit living within us. He is ever present in our lives to help us, strengthen us, empower us, guide us, teach us, and bring us comfort. Because of Him, we are never alone. Yet so often, He is ignored, undervalued, or disregarded in our lives. We rely on our own mechanisms and devices to make decisions, solve problems, and self-soothe--often operating as if we are spiritual orphans. We ignore his promptings, warnings, or instructions because we want to do things our way. And guess what? He lets us! Don't believe me? Have you ever entertained a thought or idea and something within you said, "Don't say that" or "Don't go there..."? And you went against that prompting, only to say to yourself later, "Something told me not to do that." Well, guess what--chances are it was the Holy Spirit trying to help you avoid something unfavorable.
They key to a prosperous life that is full of purpose and destiny is to accept every gift that God has given you to help you along on life's journey. This would include accepting, receiving, and utilizing the gift of the Holy Spirit. It means making Him feel welcome to be a part of every aspect of our lives--our marriages, our homes, our parenting, our family relationships, finances, employment, health issues, our decision making, our inner longings, our dreams and ambitions, even our disappointments. When we welcome Holy Spirit into our world, we are guaranteed help, strength, truth, wisdom, comfort, advocacy, guidance, healing, liberty--even improved memory(John 14:26)!
So, how do we welcome Holy Spirit into our lives? Through constant prayer and inclusion. He is our partner in life, and through life. Simply make it commonplace to talk to Him and rely on Him. He will never mislead, misguide, or misdirect. Every instruction He gives, will be confirmed through Scripture. So you never have to wonder, was that the Holy Spirit? He will make himself known to you in a personal way, so you will always know the sound of his voice, understand his promptings, and receive his instruction.
Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank you for your Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, you are welcome in my life. I ask that you fill me with your Spirit. Lead me and guide me into all truths. Make your voice plain to me, so that I may listen and obey your promptings and thereby live a life of victory, prosperity, and abundance. In Jesus' name, Amen and so be it according to the word of God!
